Why Choose Composite Decking?
Leighton Buzzard is famous for its sand, and the free-draining sandy ground around Heath and Reach and the Sandhills estates is ideal for ground screw foundations. Closer to the Grand Union Canal and the River Ouzel in Linslade the soil turns to heavier clay, so we assess every site before we design. Period homes off the High Street and Plantation Road often have long, narrow gardens where a raised composite deck with integrated steps makes the most of the space.
The town has grown quickly with new developments at Chamberlains Barn and Clipstone Park, and many owners of new-build homes ask us to turn a small turfed rectangle into a usable outdoor room with decking, a pergola and lighting. Decking up to 30cm above ground level is normally permitted development; for anything higher, or if you are in the Leighton Buzzard conservation area, we can advise on Central Bedfordshire Council’s requirements.
